QFI was delighted to have Samantha Cohen CVO, Chief Executive, Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC) speak on 17 March at a cocktail event.
Samantha Cohen was raised and educated in Brisbane. Sam was appointed as Chief Executive of CWEIC on 01 February 2020. Sam served in the Royal Household for 18 years as Assistant and Deputy Private Secretary to Her Majesty The Queen after serving as Head of Royal Communications for The Queen’s Household. After working on delivering the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in London in 2018, Sam served as Private Secretary to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex for 18 months. Before that, she worked for the Minister for Mining and Energy and the Australian Government’s minister for Indigenous Affairs. Sam currently also serves as Co-Chair of the climate change charity Cool Earth and is a Trustee of The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust. Sam has recently been appointed as a senior staff member to the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, which she will take up in April.
Samantha was interviewed by Jeremy Mitchell, Australia-Pacific Director, CWEIC. He has worked as an Adviser to Government in Australia and the United Kingdom. Jeremy worked as an adviser in the Howard Government in Australia and the Blair Government in Britain. He was the Head of Public Affairs for the Australian High Commission in London. Over the past 14 years, Jeremy has been a senior executive in several multinational corporations. He brings a unique understanding of business and Government and the highest levels. Jeremy was an Australian representative at the first Commonwealth Youth Parliament held in Manchester in 1997.
